Site Description: The areas around the Lake Redman Activity Area and York Road have been locations of good movements of migrating songbirds. The trails Northwest of the York Road access are great for views of the lake by the dam breast and for finding birds roosting in the big spruce stand near the “Lake Redman sign”. Occasionally birds that are hidden from view at the other locations can be viewed by taking this 20 minute hike towards the dam breast on trail 3 towards the dam breast.
Birding by canoe or kayak on the lake itself can give an observer close views of Barn and Cliff Swallow (May-June) nest under the I-83 bridge. April is a good time for grebes and migrating loons. Waterfowl viewing is great at Lake Redman from October to April. This is typically good at Sparton Road or from the York Road parking area.
